Husband Bosworth lies midway between Market Harborough and Lutterworth. The main part of Husbands Bosworth is very pretty and indeed much of the village has been designated as a conservation area because of the richness of the architecture.
There is a lot going on in the village in 2010 including a Country Fair and Festival in the local park. On the third weekend of July every year there are the Husbands Bosworth and Theddingworth Sheep dog trials which are a well established event on the sporting calendar, dating from 1905.
The area around the village was probably settled soon after the Romans left in 450AD. The village grew steadily through the centuries and by 1220 there was enough support to build a stone church, and parts of the present day church date back to that time. The main body of the church and the tower were then added in the 1300s and this is still the existing building. By 1531 the land had passed into the hands of the Dixie family who owned another Bosworth some thirty miles to the west and so to differentiate between the two, the larger village was renamed Market Bosworth and the smaller village Husbands Bosworth, the farmers Bosworth. Of course, we have offices in both!
With three churches, a school, a small '' stately home'' and many other buildings of interest, Husbands Bosworth is a typical English village, although, in July 1616 six witches from Husbands Bosworth were sent to the gallows for '' bewitching'' the son of the Lord of the Manor, the last witches to be convicted in England ...
